# Coronavirus Pandemic – India responding to global Challenges with Strategic Opportunity...

We are living in the world of uncertainty for last six months; Covid-19 has changed our routine for some-times and apart from that we are facing serious global economy crises with intense difficulty and challenges across the world. As we are aware of the fact that Covid-19 pandemic started spreading from the China and within a short span of time it’s become a global pandemic now and entire world economy and human beings are suffering all the way right from insecurity, food crises, job-loss, reverse migration, passive fear, uncertainty, credit crises, liquidity crunch and etc.

Covid-19 will always be the subject of research and development for years to come but overall the pandemic drew attention of the world leaders at global thereat and thought of strategic alternative for the China as almost entire Business Eco-System and Supply chain got disturbed because of the pandemic and early lock-down in certain part of China, please be noted that certain part of China (one province) and its impact we’re referring to; so we can imagine a scenario if we can take the China as whole Country. We must have a second choice and second chance for everything and everyone as relying on one Country for majority of global consumption needs and mass manufacturing is a real thereat for the world economy and supply chain and risk thereof must be mitigated and addressed now.

It’s a wake-up call for the world leaders, entrepreneurs, Business owners and Industrialist of emerging economies.

We welcome positive and progressive initiatives of ‘’self-reliance’’ taken by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Government at this crucial time of economic uncertainty. However it’s just not about consumption of local manufactured goods by the Indian community; overall raw material, technology and machinery and capital goods and everything in between should be our own with service driven and export oriented focus and we will have to work as second choice destination for manufacturing of goods.

# NEVER LISTEN WITH A PREDETERMINED NOTION...

A teacher teaching Mathematics to seven-year-old Arnav asked him, “If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have? “Within a few seconds Arnav replied confidently, “Four!”

The dismayed teacher was expecting an effortless correct answer (three). She was disappointed. ”Maybe the child did not listen properly,” she thought. She repeated, “Arnav, listen carefully. If I give you one apple and one apple and one apple, how many apples will you have?”

Arnav had seen the disappointment on his teacher’s face. He calculated again on his fingers. But within him he was also searching for the answer that will make the teacher happy. His search for the answer was not for the correct one, but the one that will make his teacher happy. This time hesitatingly he replied, “Four…”

The disappointment stayed on the teacher’s face. She remembered that Arnav liked strawberries. She thought he doesn’t like apples and that is making him loose focus. This time with an exaggerated excitement and twinkling in her eyes she asked, “If I give you one strawberry and one strawberry and one strawberry, then how many you will have?”

Seeing the teacher happy, young Arnav calculated on his fingers again. There was no pressure on him, but a little on the teacher. She wanted her new approach to succeed. With a hesitating smile young Arnav enquired, “Three?”

The teacher now had a victorious smile. Her approach had succeeded. She wanted to congratulate herself. But one last thing remained. Once again she asked him, “Now if I give you one apple and one apple and one more apple how many will you have?”

Promptly Arnav answered, “Four!”

The teacher was aghast. ”How Arnav, how?” she demanded in a little stern and irritated voice.

In a voice that was low and hesitating young Arnav replied, “Because I already have one apple in my bag.”

LEARNINGS

“When someone gives us an answer that is different from what we expect, at the moment we shouldn't think they are wrong. There may be an angle that we have not understood at all". We will have to listen and understand, but never listen with a predetermined notion. In above illustration, mathematically the Teacher was Right & Logically the little Boy. Wishing you all very nice day ahead!

# THE BLIND MEN & A ROAD STORY...

A blind (visually impaired) man had been waiting for a while at the busy road for someone to offer to guide him across, when he felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Excuse me," said the tapper, "I'm blind - would you mind guiding me across the road?"

The first blind man took the arm of the second blind man, and they both crossed the road.

Apparently this is a true story. The first blind man was the jazz pianist George Shearing. He is quoted (in Bartlett's Anecdotes) as saying after the event, "What could I do? I took him across and it was the biggest thrill of my life."

LEARNINGS

Overall the above story is an illustration of stretching, dependency, risk and achievement under pressure.
There are times when we think we cannot do something and so do not stretch or take a risk. Being forced to stretch and take a risk can often help us to reduce our dependencies (on others, or our own personal safety mechanisms), and to discover new excitement and capabilities.
